Experience the real Greece on this 5-hour small-group walking tour of Agiasos, a pretty mountain village on the island of Lesbos. Stroll through chestnut forests and cherry orchards, visit an olive oil mill, a soap factory, museums, and a church, and drink Greek coffee and taste sweet preserves at a traditional café.

Meet your guide and small group in Agiasos at 11am to start your walking tour. Stroll through narrow cobbled streets lined by ranks of tiled houses, past traditional Greek cafés, churches, and chapels to the chestnut forest.

As you amble through the forest, you'll collect chestnuts (in season) and wander through walnut groves and cherry orchards, and along a pretty river. Enjoy a simple picnic in the forest as your guide introduces you to local flora and fauna.

Along the way, you'll experience many of Agiasos' key attractions – during carnival time, in early spring, you'll have the chance to get involved in festivities. Learn how olive oil is milled and soap is produced, explore a local folklore museum, the Byzantine museum, the carnival museum, and a private collection of folklore items. Visit the Panagia (Virgin Mary) church, which dates back to the twelfth century, enjoy a tasting of the famous local 'spoon sweet' preserved fruits, and learn about the village's rich heritage of ceramics and woodwork.

Your walking tour will finish around 4pm, when you'll be free to make your own way back to your accommodation.
