Stop At: Hellenic Air Force Museum, Acharnes 136 77, Greece
We will pick you up from the very centre of Athens. You may choose between Syntagma Square and Omonoia Square. We will then drive you with our luxurious buses to the Hellenic Air Force Museum situated within the Tatoi Airport. Our tour leaders are aviation experts. They will deliver a thoughtful journey through the historically significant “Leros” World War II Hangar, an exhibit by itself, preserved in an immaculate condition. Our leaders will then walk you through the aircraft discussing the operational history of each one.
The aircraft collection within the hangar represents mostly the WWII era, and the Korean War. North of the Hangar, we will visit a collection of aircraft and helicopters most of them originating from the 1960s. South of the hangar, we will walk through a unique aircraft collection representing the pure jet era of the Hellenic Air Force.
The museum exhibits very rare aircraft. Some of them are encountered only in a handful of places in the world. Such an aeroplane is the Curtiss Helldiver SBC2-5. The aircraft is preserved in an exceptional condition.
This is a unique aviation museum in many respects.
It is the only Greek aviation museum with such an extensive collection of well-preserved aircraft. You will have the chance to learn about Greek aviation history and the aircraft operated by the Greek Air Force. It is one of the very few museums housed within an active Air Force base. Tatoi is the house of the Hellenic Air Force academy.
