Travelling deep down the centuries we submerge in the fertile soils of Cretan land, where the roots of ancient vineyards embrace the soil which supported and raised civilizations of unforgotten eras. Their fruits, their essences have created the name of a powerful product: the Cretan Wine. In the Minoan era it was stored in clay jars and ended up in lavish feasts of noblemen and kings. Afterwards, wine used to be poured into the barrels at the cellars of the Venetians and the Ottomans. The roots of the winemakers of Crete are as deep as those of their vines as they have been producing authentic Cretan varieties (Romeiko, Vidiano, Kotsifali, Pluto, Mantilari, Vilana, Dafni, Liatiko, Muscat of Spina and others) for centuries.

Stop At: Eco Events

We will visit the modern "Kanakis" olive oil factory to learn about the process of olive oil production and taste the finest cretan olive oil! The first thing we see when we arrive there, is an ancient olive oil tree, more that one thousand years old. We continue to the innovative olive mill where all production steps and details are described thoroughly by our experts. As during the summer season there is no olive oil production we will not have the chance to see the production in live action but we will get full explanations by the experts. In the last part we can taste two different servings of the exquisite, extra virgin olive oil: we will try it pure first, with no adding, and then we will taste the old fashion, traditional way with lemon and salt. Little secrets on storage, best use and healthy attributes can be discussed as well.
After a 10' drive we will reach one of the best wineries of the region where we will enjoy a 30-40' tour, during which, participants will learn about the history, tradition and the latest developments in the production of wine and all information on the particular characteristics of the Cretan “terroir”. You will participate in a fully guided tour of the plantations of the winery, the cellar, the production area and finally their shop.
After the tour,we will continue on to the wine tasting room, where you will be able to taste five types of wine, accompanied by traditional rusks and olives.

Finally we will visit the small and beautiful Vrysses village in order to finish our day with a coffe or even better a glass of raki or the Cretan "limoncello", accompanied by a traditional light snack.

The old town of Rethymnon is a living museum of monuments of past centuries. Stop At: Rethymnon Old Town, Rethymnon, Rethymnon Prefecture, Crete

We will start the gastronomy tour by visiting the local market of Rethymno. It is situated in a square just off the "Old Town" and it is well worth a trip, to see the variety and abundance of the locally grown produce, food stuff you would never see in other countries.
The fish, olives and cheese stalls alone, make your mouth water just by the sight of them, and the offer of free samples is a must to try. There are many non food stalls, selling everything from clothes and household items to car parts and handy vegetable peeler's that shred, slice and julienne.
• Our second stop is a wonderful small place in the heart of the old town(Ta dio Rou) in order to try some local delicacies. There you will have enough time to talk about Rethymno, our history and tradition.
• To continue, we will pass through a traditional workshop where Greek sweets are made. It is really impressing to watch Mr. Giorgos creating ‘kantaifi’ and ‘baklava’ by hand, in the traditional way. Feel free to treat you self to some goodies after the demonstration.
• After the traditional workshop, we will explore a wonderful shop in the heart of the old town. There we will treat you some of our favorite Cretan sweets. Quality products, exceptional coffee, great sweets and pastries fill this shop and there is a possibility of buying anything you wish..
• Our last stop will be at the Fortezza castle where you will have time to wander around and get fascinated by the view. Due to the fact that the escort of this tour is not considered an official guide, it is forbidden to explain to the voyagers the history of this place. If our travelers wish to have an official guide we would be happy to book one upon communication.

Stop At: Monastery of Arkadi, Rethymnon, Rethymnon Prefecture, Crete

The Arkadi Monastery situated on the island of Crete doesnt solely belong to this island; it belongs to Greece, Europe and to all five continents – to the whole world.
It is one of the Eastern Orthodox Monasteries underlining the catholicity and universality of the Church. Each year the Monastery receives and hosts many visitors and pilgrims from all over the world, from distant civilizations. Here are blended many languages, cultures, traditions, history and polymorphism. Nothing from the above can impede the faith unity, the catholicity of the orthodox spirit, the universality of the ecclesiastical testimony.
The Arkadi Monastery has a unique natural beauty, a prestigious history, numerous legends deeply rooted in the time, heirlooms and thesaurus richness. Possibly because the old is livelier than the new, and the modern is often more mature than the aged. Each pilgrim and visitor feels something which is exclusively his, personal, original in his experiential and spiritual experience.
